NSPL ensures supply of seeds with excellent quality parameters so that the farmers get expected yields and maximize their profitability.
|
NSPL believes that quality is never an accident and is a result of innovation and proper management. Keeping Total Quality Management in view, NSPL products are passed through two major quality assessment tests i.e., STL and GOT. In Nuziveedu Seed Testing Laboratory (NSTL), seed samples are tested for quality parameters such as moisture content, physical purity, germination, vigor, luster, size etc., so as to ensure a better yield.

ISTA Accredited Laboratory
- NSPL has three seed testing labs, the major hub being Kompally followed by Kothur and Kondrupadu (Guntur). NSTL at Kompally was accredited by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) in 2006, having the infrastructure as per ISTA specifications. Again, it's the 6th ISTA accredited laboratory in India with the capacity to test each and every seed sample as per ISTA procedures before placing them in the market!.
- Annually, 1,80,000 of samples are tested for germination, physical purity, etc.
- Annually, 25,000 of samples are tested for vigor.
- 5% of the lots are coded and tested at different labs and thereafter, the results are decoded and compared by the Regional Manager himself to ensure the correctness of the results from STLs.
- Parallel soil testing of the seeds are done at the field level by 'actual planting in the land', ensuring zero lapses. Each seed lot is tested at least 3-4 times to avoid any errors.
- The state-of-the-art ERP package enables data storage of any number of seed tests.

The Grow Out Test (GOT) determines the genetic purity of the sample. About 36,000 lots or samples are tested over 450 acres of company GOT farms. These farms are located at Nuziveedu, Nizamabad, Guntur, Attur and Kallakal and the tests are conducted under the strict technical supervision of the company's qualified production staff. The genetic purity of the crop (sample) is confirmed by comparing its morphological character with the check sample. The sample should meet the standards specified in the minimum seed certificate standards. The Quality seed after passing all the tests is considered as marketable material and sent for further processing & packaging.
|
- All the hybrid seed lots of all crops are evaluated for genetic purity.
- The seed samples are received from the processing plants, coded at the GOT Centers and then sent to GOT farms.
- There are three GOT farms, at Attur in Tamil Nadu, SR Puram near Guntur and Renjal near Nizamabad.
- The GOTs are conducted in an area of about 600 acres every year.
|
- Systematic and repeated testing for conforming the standards of each lot.
- Correctness ensured in the reporting.
- Withholding of seed lots even if there's a slightest doubt.

Quality seeds are treated with several insecticides, fungicides and other chemicals to ensure better performance at the field level. The appropriate mixture of chemicals is determined depending on the crop.
